Artist Statement
I am interested in the way the human body is creating a connection with the environment and the objects surrounding the space. Visually creating this relationship between the physical body and objects, my latest interest is to create installation pieces that can interact with it's audience's while bringing feelings of comfort, playfulness and relaxation. To achieve this I am looking at dreams as living morphic devices ,that mould together our conscious mind ,while I am looking for ways to bring into existence the silent and the unseen subjects of the unconscious mind.
I am taking my inspiration from the ever day life ,where comfort and playfulness have disappeared ,being replaced by keeping track of our productivity and striving for perfection ,loosing time on trying to perfect the imperfect human being, in the era of technology. A common place of comfort and transformation I found it to be present in the process of metamorphosis ,a place where fragile beings are being reborn into a new body, being given a new chance through change and acceptance of transformation. This process it is valuable in my work as it speaks about the ,physical and mental, human development ,as we go through the changes of life , the fragile being we were seems to be forgotten and hidden in to an invisible cocoon of memories.
I like integrating crochet and waving technique as a way to introduce traditional crafting into my work, and essentially to bring back a therapeutically way of making .As mediums I am concentrating on using soft materials such as yarn ,fabric, wax, clay and metal (for structure).
The body is important because it is a vulnerable part of ourselves when in contact with different environments, experiencing colours, textures ,through vision and tactile experimentation . Vision is important because ,I am interested in the way we experience the ‘’dream world’’ as an imaginary body by being in the sleeping state . Exploring the unconscious state and it’s experiences through shape ,colour and sound , by progressing into a intuitive practice.
